Strategically mapping out appropriate and relevant content for your website can mean the difference between high rankings on search engines, and staying sub-par to your competition. If you are a small business and you’re in the process of rolling out a business plan that involves a website, then your web marketing strategy should include some specific elements.
Company Information – For a 5 -page site, you may have a page dedicated to ” who you are” or what services you offer, but include a sample of all of this information somewhere on your home page. Remember that your home page is not only the first page that viewers will see when they enter your site, but it’s the page that search engines put most emphasis on, hence the name “index” page. Just like an index to a book, the index page should give the viewer access to the entire site by good and tasteful use of links, content, etc.
Enough Content – For most service-based businesses, one paragraph on your front page is not enough information. When search engines are crawling your sites, they are primarily crawling content to decide relevancy of your site and keyword searches that people put in. So adding enough content with those specific keywords is important.
