Marketing your business online is much like marketing your business offline.

Your goal is to find new customers and keep them intrigued and interested in your products and services. From there, your next job is to convert them from a visitor to a paying customer. So how do you do that online?

Let us first explore the first step: Getting people to your website.

This may sound much easier than it really is. Being that you most likely have hundreds of competitors in your industry, it is essential that your website is properly optimized for search engines like Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc.

SEO or “search engine optimization” is the art and process of getting your website to rank well on search engines. This is done with performing what we call “in-page” and “off-page” SEO. In-page SEO has to do with how your pages are titled, the correlation of keywords in each page’s text with the Meta description, title tags, internal links, etc. Off-Page SEO refers to any SEO efforts you put forth for your site out of your site. The biggest, and still most powerful element of off-page SEO is backlinks. Backlinks are links that reside on other websites and point back to yours. Getting plenty of QUALITY links will prove to give your SEO presence a boost over your competition. While links are important, it is always good to remember to focus on powerful links from high-ranking websites, rather than hundreds of spam-like sites. A great way to obtain backlinks is through article writing online and including a link back to your site. For more on our Boise SEO services, contact us.

Moving On…..

Lets say that everything above has worked for you and you’re starting to get traffic on your website. You have successfully completed step 1 of 2. Now, how do you keep people on your site? Lets face it, people will eventually leave your website whether if they are browsing a page for 1 minute or 30 minutes. The idea is for them to leave on a good note and leave with what you want from them. Maybe that’s a sale, a contact form inquiry, or similar request.

Call To Action:

A “call to action” refers to what is the driving force on your site that will get potential visitors to click on that “buy now” button, or get them to contact you. The call to action is the marketing mechanics that helps engineer the way your visitors find those goal points. Does your website have a phone number large and visible when you first enter the site? Is there a “contact us” button visible upon entrance?

Your “call to action” should be that hook that people see right away upon entering  the site. There are lots of other elements that are designed to ensure a great user experience, but it always starts with traffic.
