We’ve all had to bump up the memory or the upload max or the post max in the hosting for WordPress but this one had us scratching our heads a bit.

When we ran phpinfo(), PHP was reporting that the upload_max_filesize was 64M but within WordPress we were still getting that message “Maximum upload file size: 2 MB.” and were unable to upload any larger files.

Luckily, we ran across this great article at Elegant Themes, thanks to Jay Hoffman for writing this!

The issue was that we needed to add a “.user.ini” file (only works for PHP5). Case closed.
